Ann

She felt it all. Behind the ringing of the bells, the cheers of the crown, the loud music. She felt the vacuity of the world, the profound solitude of each being, the craving for human company. She felt she was not anything else : the hope to be united, the hope that there was something else that getting up, getting dressed, going to do things that don't matter. Because nothing really matters.
As these thoughts filled her head, she kept walking on the red carpet. The throne was only five metres away now. Her father was waiting for her, smiling. Her family, her friends, her subjects were surrounding her. But she was alone. Alone in front of the choices she didn't make.
Three metres now. What is this pain in her chest ? She's walking but she can't see very well. Maybe she could close her eyes just for one second ?
“Somebody call the doctor !”
